TWRA and the Australian Rivers Institute (ARI) at Griffith University are initiating a joint project, with funding from the Australian Government (Direct Aid Program – DAP), to identify different sustainable land management techniques and approaches to reduce threats to water security and bioeconomy in the São Francisco River Basin (BRSF).
The project lasts for 1 year and has as its study area the region of Western Bahia, more specifically the region of the Rio Grande basin. In addition, it provides for the identification and engagement of relevant actors in the region. This cooperation will range from data collection to the validation of proposed actions. A workshop to be held with stakeholders from the river basin is part of the second stage of the study, in addition to an on-site visit with members of the Australian Embassy in Brazil and those involved.
