Last Thursday (02/03/2022) the Federal Government approved the project “Water for Society: Ecological Restoration and Water Management for the Revitalization of Hydrographic Basins”, proposed by the TWRA This is the second project approved by the Águas Brasileiras Program.
The project aims to: mitigate the impacts of river fragmentation by dams and other barriers, restore important connections with wetlands; reduce the impacts of land use on freshwater ecosystems and the risks associated with water pollution; protect aquatic ecosystems and reduce biodiversity loss; improve administrative and institutional processes in order to generate Integrated Water Management (GIRH).
